The 29th International Congress on Sound and Vibration (ICSV29) was successfully held in the Czech capital, Prague, from July 9 to 13, 2023.

The International Congress on Sound and Vibration (ICSV) is a series of international academic conferences in the field of acoustics and vibration initiated and organized by the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV). IIAV was originally founded by professors David Newland, Sir James Lighthill, Hanno Heller, and Malcolm Crocker. The ICSV conferences have been held annually since 1994 and have successfully hosted 28 editions to date. The conference topics cover a wide range of research areas, including sound and vibration, audio signal processing, vibration monitoring, and more. It attracts renowned experts, research institutions, universities, and businesses from around the world in the field of sound and vibration, making it highly regarded and influential in the industry.

At the invitation of Professor Jian Kang, the Chairman of the conference, our department's Academician Jie Li attended the conference in Prague, Czech Republic, and delivered a keynote address titled Random Propagation in Dynamical Systems: Taking Earthquake Engineering as an Example. During his keynote address, Academician Jie Li systematically introduced the groundbreaking contributions made by his team in recent years in the areas of probability density evolution in stochastic dynamical systems, uncertainty propagation in general physical systems, stochastic earthquake motion simulation, structural failure analysis, and reliability theory. This presentation garnered unanimous attention and enthusiastic responses from over 500 international scholars from around the world who attended the conference.
