The 4th TJU-NTU Symposium on Civil Engineering held in Shanghai

From 11 to 12, July, 2019, the 4th TJU-NTU Symposium on Civil Engineering was held in Tongji University. Fourteen teachers from the College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University (CCE) and ten teachers from the Department of Civil Engineering of Taiwan University(NTUCE) attended the symposium.

In the morning of 11 July, Prof. Huanjun Jiang, Vice Dean of CCE, hosted the opening ceremony. Professor Xianzhong Zhao, Dean of CCE, and Professor Shangxian Xie, Director of NTUCE, delivered speeches to introduce the two parties’ histories and expressed wishes to the participants for fulfilling and memorable symposium. Later, in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical and underground engineering and hydraulic engineering, 19 scholars from both sides gave academic reports and exchanged ideas. Afterwards, the two sides discussed how to further strengthen the communication and collaboration in education and research.

On 12 July, representatives from NTUCE visited the centrifuge laboratory, shaking table laboratory and wind tunnel laboratory at the Siping Campus, the laboratories of multi-function shaking table and College of Transportation Engineering on Jiading Campus, and Shanghai Center in downtown.

The 4th TJU-NTU Symposium on Civil Engineering enhanced mutual understanding, improved communication and promoted the development of civil engineering disciplines across the strait.
