Tongji University successfully convened the 11th Kwang-Hua Forum from December 12 to 15, 2025, bringing together leading international scholars and practitioners to explore innovations in disaster-resilient engineering and urban safety.
The forum, themed “Innovations and Implementations in Disaster Resilience Research,” featured 119 presentations by experts from home and abroad, including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Academy of Sciences, and engineering academies of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Japan. Discussions spanned AI applications in disaster prevention, seismic-resilient structures, structural health monitoring, and the evaluation of urban resilience.
Co-organized by the College of Civil Engineering, the State Key Laboratory of Disaster Reduction in Civil Engineering, the International Joint Research Laboratory of Earthquake Engineering, Earthquake Resiliency Committee, Seismological Society of China, and Architectural and Engineering Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Branch of China Association for Disaster Prevention, the event provided a significant platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, aligning with China’s recent policy emphasis on building safe and resilient cities.
Since its inception in 2008, the Kwang-Hua Forum has served as a key academic venue for advancing global knowledge exchange in disaster risk reduction and infrastructure resilience.
