From Nov. 2nd to 4th, 2017, 30th KKHTCNN Symposium on Civil Engineering was held on NTU Campus. More than 250 faculty members and students from Kyoto University (KU), Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Tongji University (TJU), Chulalongkorn University (CU), National Taiwan University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS) joined the symposium. Prof. Huang Hongwei, Prof. Jiang Huanjun, Prof. Wu Dingjun, Associate Prof. Dai Kaoshan, Associate Prof. Zhou Zhiguang, Assistant Prof. Gu Xiaoqiang, Assistant Prof. Li Zheng, Ms. Shen Jiajun and 29 students from Tongji University joined the symposium.

 The 30th KKHTCNN Symposium was hosted by Department of Civil Engineering, NTU. After the opening ceremony in the morning of Nov. 2nd, Dr. Yi-Fung Wang from Water Resources Agency, MOEA gave a keynote lecture, entitled “Forward-looking infrastructure development program for improvement of water environment in Taiwan”; Prof. Chin-Hsiung Loh from Taiwan University gave a keynote lecture entitled “Application of data reduction for structural health monitoring and damage detection”; Prof. Huang Hongwei from Tongji University gave a keynote lecture, entitled “Defects recognition of tunnel and underground works by Artificial Intelligence”.

 Faculty members from the seven universities chaired parallel sessions. Graduate students from seven universities made academic reports to exchange their research findings. This symposium was mainly concentrating on structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, general civil engineering, transportation engineering and construction engineering. At last, Prof. Joseph H W Lee made the closing speech, and presented the to the students. On the closing ceremony at night, the Best Presentation Award was presented and a detailed summary of the symposium was given. On Nov. 4th, all the participants took a visit to Taipei Metro Beimen Station.
