The 11th TONGJI-KAIST Summer School was held by College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University from Aug. 1st to Aug. 7th. Dr. Tae-Hyuk Kwon with nine students from Korea and 11 teachers and 13 students from Tongji attended the academic conference and summer course.
The theme of the summer school is: Disaster mitigation in Civil Engineering: structural, geotechnical and hydraulic engineering perspectives.

On the morning of Aug. 1st, Prof. Jiang Huanjun, Vice Dean of College of Civil Engineering made a welcome address to the delegates on the opening ceremony. Then Dr. Tae-Hyuk Kwon and Dr. Dai Kaoshan made an academic speech respectively.
From the afternoon of Aug. 1st, teachers from Tongji side gave lectures covering timber structure, steel-concrete composite structure, steel structural stability, seismic mitigation methods, structural vibration control, sponge city technologies and so on.

Visit of Shanghai Museum
TONGJI-KAIST summer school has been held for 11 years. The one-week long summer school witnessed not only the increase of students’ academic achievement, but also the enhancement of the friendship between Tongji and KAIST.
The 12th TONGJI-KAIST Summer School will be held at KAIST of Korea.
