In order to promote the academic exchanges of Hydraulic Engineering, Feng Chia University and Tongji University hosted a symposium on Hydraulic Engineering respectively, which was mainly attended by teachers. On April 13^th, 2014, Feng Chia University hosted the 1st Feng Chia  – Tongji Joint thesis competition for the Graduate Students in Hydraulic Engineering. Eight papers were selected from each side after a rigorous selection. One Special Award Winner, two Excellent Award winners and four Good Paper Award winners were selected in this competition. Zhou Zhengzheng, one graduate student from Department of Hydraulic Engineering, College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University, won the special award in this competition, with her thesis titled “Frequency Analysis of Annual Extreme Precipitation in Taihu Basin, based on Regional L-moments Approach”. She was offered the financial support of 10-day visit and study in USA by Doctor Baolin Wu, the President of Chinese American Water Resources Association, (CAWRA). In addition, Han Chao, Zhu Zhe, Wang Tianyi were the winners of the Good Paper Awards and were awrded NT $ 3000 respectively.

    Feng Chia University attached great importance to this competition. Dr. Li Binggan, Chancellor of Feng Chia University guided the competition personally at the competition site. Because of the joint efforts of both sides, the 1st Joint thesis competition for the Graduate Students in Hydraulic Engineering was a great success.
