 Prof Hehua Zhu, from the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, was invited as a member of International Advisory Group (IAG) to attend the review meeting held at the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction in University of Cambridge (CSIC) from March 12-15, 2014. The group members attended include Prof. Yojo Fujino (University of Tokyo, Japan), Prof. Tom O'Rourke (Cornell University, the US), Prof. Spencer Billie (UIUC, the US) and Prof. Zhu (Tongji University, China). The other IAG member Prof. Wright (UC Berkeley, the US) was not able to come to the meeting. Prof. O'Rourke was appointed as the chair of IAG.

 Dr. Schooling, the newly appointed head of the CSIC gave a speech reporting the progress of the research in the centre in the past year. In particular, he addressed the ten key problem raised up by IAG in its previous meeting (report dated January 23, 2013) and actions taken in response to the IAG comments. Phillip Keenan as Business Development Director and Helen Needham as Communications Manager are excellent additions to the management team. The IAG commends Jennifer Schooling, Center Director, for her outstanding grasp of Center activities and contributions to the management team. A closed session was held involving representatives from industrial partners and infrastructure owner. The representatives expressed their opinions on the report and perspective of the center. A poster session was arranged afterwards demonstrating the progress and deliverables of the centre in the past year. In the session, the research staff discussed with the group members on the research outcome. A parallel session was also arranged for a presentation on recent advance in vibration generated power energy. The meeting was concluded by a brief discussion between the head of the centre and four of the group members.

 In summary, the IAG was impressed with the CSIC leadership, organization, and research program. The IAG provided suggestions on the development of the next two years, the following 5-year and long term plan of the centre.
