On the afternoon of May 27th, Mr. Chen Xiaolong, vice-president of Tongji University, met with Josep Casanovas, executive vice-president of Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain (UPC), at Run Run Shaw Building.

  During the meeting, recent student exchange projects were reviewed. Students from both universities were very active in the exchange projects. UPC offered two full scholarships (5000 euros/ person/ semester) yearly for our departments of civil engineering, telecommunication, software, chemistry, etc. The students from Tongji University studied in Spain for half a year, at the same time, the number of exchange students from UPC increased every year. Only last year, there were 7 UPC students coming to our university for exchange.

  Both sides agreed that the two universities should strengthen exchange and cooperation in the highlighted field, and discussed the possibility of cooperation in other advantage disciplines.

  It is learned that Vice-president Chen Xiaolong would have return visit to UPC during “Europe Solar Decathlon Competition” In June. Our professors and students from college of Architecture and Urban Planning were invited to participate in a seminar by UPC in mid-July.
