On the afternoon and evening of May 22nd, 26 teachers and students of Architecture & Urban Planning College and College of Civil Engineering flew to Chengdu from Shanghai in three groups in order to provide intellectual assistance for the disaster relief and resettling work after the earthquake. The University Vice President Chen Xiaolong also took the plane to the disaster area that evening to express consolation to the teachers and students working at the front line of disaster relief. Up to 22nd, our university has sent 77 teachers and students to service directly for disaster relief in Sichuan together with 51 experts and medical workers who had already arrived there.
At noon the same day, a departure ceremony was held to see these 26 teachers and graduate students off. Secretary of University Party Committee Zhou Jialun, Executive Vice-president Li Yongsheng, Vice-presidents Chen Xiaolong and Zhao Jianfu, Vice Secretaries of University Party Committee Lu Minxun, Jiang Fumin and Ma Jinming and other university leaders were presented at the ceremony. Wu Zhiqiang, Dean of Architecture & Urban Planning College and Chief Planner of resettlement and rehabilitation work for Sichuan disaster area, presided over the ceremony.
