In 2009, 1136 visitors from Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan have been received on campus. The student exchange programmes have been undertaken smoothly with Cheng Kung University, University of Science and Technology Taiwan, Feng Chia University, Chung Hua University, Kun Shan University of Technology, etc. The suggestions from Tongji on the new campus planning on Hengqin Island for the University of Macau have been provided for its project application. The collaboration with Taiwan Guanghua Foundation was strengthened this year, with 100 million RMB donations delivering for the development of the discipline of civil engineering at Tongji. Over 500 university students from Taiwan have been participating in the Summer/winter school on Chinese Culture organized by Tongji.
