The International Unsaturated Soil Mechanics and Nuclear Waste Geological Disposal Symposium titled UNSAT-WASTE 2009 was successfully held in Tongji University on August 24^th and 25^th.

     Tongji University, The Corps of Engineers of Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC), China Three Gorges University and Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences co-hosted the syposium.

     Prof. Li Yongsheng, the University Executive Vice-President, Prof. Feng Xiating, President of ISRM, Prof. Alonso, President of Unsaturated Soil Committee, TC6-ISMGE and Wang Ju, Chairman of Professional Radioactive Waste Disposal Committee, ISRM and attended and Director of Professional Ground Disposal Committee, CSRME addressed the symposium.
