From June 22^nd to 24^th, the International Computational Structural Engineering Symposium was held in Tongji University. Among nearly 100 delegates, 30 were from Austria, Britain, France, Australia, Spain and Japan. This symposium was jointly organized by Tongji University and Vienna University of Technology.

     Cui Junzhi, Chairman of Academic Committee, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of China Science and Technology Institute, Herbert Mang, Chairman of International Advisory Committee and professor of Vienna University of Technology, Prof. Shen Zuyan, president of the symposium and member of Chinese Academy of Engineering attended the conference. During the symposium, the delegates explored and exchanged ideas about structural mechanics, multidisciplinary optimization, analog and CAD/CAE, intellectual structure, numerical method, engineering application and some other subjects.
